Good for internal tools, some UI quirks

I used Glide to build an Inventory Management App for our small business. The process of connecting it to our Google Sheet was really smooth, and getting the basic app up and running was surprisingly quick. I liked how easy it was to customize components like the Data Grid and Form Builder. The Role Based Access Control also worked well for our team. My only real gripe was with some of the UI options; sometimes getting things to look exactly right took a bit more fiddling than I expected, especially with font sizes and spacing. Overall, it's a powerful tool, and the annual billing discount made it a good value, but there's still room for refinement in the design customization.

Reliable platform, improving over time

This was my third time using Glide for a project, this time a Customer Portal. I've always found it reliable. The integration with Airtable was seamless, just like my previous projects with Google Sheets. What really stood out this time was the improved AI Column feature; it saved me a lot of time categorizing customer feedback, which was a nice upgrade from the last time I used it. The support documentation has also gotten better over the past year. It's why I keep coming back – consistent performance and they're always adding useful new features.

Easy app builder

I built a simple Event App using Glide. It was straightforward to connect to my data. The app works well on mobile. Good experience.

I'm a student, is there any kind of discount for education accounts? Trying to build something for a class project.

M Megan 1 month ago
I'm pretty sure they have an education discount program. Check their site, you usually have to apply with a student email or something.

Yeah, I got some credits for a non-profit project through their special programs. It's not like a coupon code you just punch in, but they do have specific discounts for education and non-profits if you qualify.

Hey, anyone know if Glide ever does sales? Like Black Friday or something, or are their prices pretty set?

J Josh R. 2 months ago
Yeah, they definitely do Black Friday and Cyber Monday stuff. Saw some deals around New Year's too for annual plans. Worth keeping an eye out.

They usually have discounts if you pay annually instead of monthly, that's the biggest ongoing one. And I think they do specific non-profit or education deals too, so if that applies to you, check it out.

Thinking of moving over to Glide for some internal tools. Is it a big jump from something like Bubble or Retool in terms of features or ease of use?

D David Okafor 2 months ago
I moved a simple inventory app from Bubble to Glide and it was way faster to get up and running. Glide feels a bit more streamlined for certain app types, less of a learning curve initially.

Depends on what you're building. Glide is fantastic for data-driven apps from sheets, super quick. Retool is probably stronger for really complex internal dashboards with lots of custom JS. Bubble is kinda its own beast, very powerful but takes time.

Can I actually build a decent customer portal with Glide? Or is it more for super basic internal stuff?

P Paula C. 2 months ago
Absolutely! I've built a customer portal for a small service business using Glide. It handles user logins, shows their order history, allows them to submit support tickets. It's surprisingly robust.

Yeah, for sure. You can even set up different user roles so customers only see what they're supposed to. And connecting to Google Sheets makes it easy to manage their data on the backend.
